chocolate piece

im really digging this idea.
ive gotten all the pieces for the box made, just have to put them together.

today ill be assembling the box and making some skulls out of the dark chocolate modeling chocolate i made yesterday.
i think im going to try to make my hand today if possible.

on a darker note, i think im getting sick. which sucks horribly.

ideas, ideas, ideas...

today the wheels in my head have been turning.

today in class were going to start on our chocolate pieces, i had an awesome idea of a "hunny i shrunk the kids" type deal with a picnic scene involving ants and humans... but i dont id be able to do it in the two something days i have to work on it.

so i was endlessly searching google earlier, thinking about so many things, when i thought of skulls. i mean hey, why not, totally fits my personality and many of my friends were surprised when they found out i hadnt done anything with skulls or anything creepy or eerie.
the idea for my chocolate piece is a simple one, but its growing.
im going to make a chocolate box out of chocolate. and the chocolates are going to be tiny day of the dead skulls and im also going to make some bones?, brains?, hearts? those details havent quite been figured out.
im also going to make the chocolate box hinged open with a severed hand as the hinge.

the simplicity and wonderfulness of fruit.

todays fruit of the day is an orange.

yum.

i love oranges, dont get me wrong, but i usually dont eat them due to the simple fact that it takes some effort just to enjoy this wonderful fruit.

but ever since i learned how to supreme a citrus fruit, it turned me back on to oranges.

easy to do and makes the orange easier to eat, no white rine in your mouth or teeth. just pure joy. :]

just another day

again today i woke up at 8-9ish.
im getting bad about waking up and giving myself 15 more minutes or just completely turning it off. :]

work again today at 12, same story almost everyday.
then class at 5:50. exciting.

yesterdays class was so much fun! id never worked with fondant before and turns out im a natural!
me and carmela (partner in crime in class) were the first ones with completely covered cakes and they look awesome.
i even had to help other students, i didnt mind, i kind just wanted to take theirs over. haha.

today were moving on to actually decorating and making flowers, this should get pretty interesting seeings how some people covered their cakes in crazy, wild colors.
i like the traditional white wedding cake, im just making in more modern with the addition of black.
the quarters almost over, 3 weeks after this one. im going to miss it.
only 2 more quarters to go til i graduate! whewwww.

wedding cake decoration

this week in advanced baking and pastry 2, were starting to decorate our wedding cake dummies.
im excited.
yesterday we went to the international sugar art collection and watched a demo about covering cakes with fondant and different decorating ideas with nicholas lodge.
i spent 6o bucks buying different items for my cake.

my wedding cake is a 3 tier cake thats going to be covering with white fondant.
the base tier and top tier decoration are undecided yet, the middle tier is going to be decorated with black pearls and on the very top will be pink gerber daisies.
still got some decisions to make this week but its getting there.
